Another Diagnosis

Chloe makes me laugh on a daily basis. She has the most entertaining mannerisms. Much to my adoring chagrin, Chloe’s latest antic seems to be dominated by a mild case of kleptomania. At least, that’s what I’ll “diagnose” it as. It DEFINITELY sounds better than being a thief, which perhaps more accurately describes these tendencies.
EVIDENCE:

In this picture Chloe’s pockets are stuffed with 24 crayons which she “lifted” from Grandma Holly’s house after an afternoon visit. Admittedly, she also took home a puzzle, a small dentist / hair dresser’s chair (from my mom’s extensive “Little People” collection) and a Christmas light reindeer. I can say with some certainty that she definitely wasn’t given permission to take 3 of the 4 items described. So, Mom – if you’re reading this – I apologize: the puzzle pieces and crayons have been dispersed throughout my house. The chair thing and reindeer have been sucked into a black hole – or one of Chloe’s bags… For anyone else reading, if you recognize any of the items in the pictures below, please let me know. I’m not sure where 75% of these objects came from… SCARY!!! Some of the “acquired” items include:

Checker’s pieces aka “Points”

My High school Graduation Tassel

A mitten

A toy toaster

A coupon

A broken leap frog cartridge

A bag from “crinkle curtains”

A random black strap

A fake plant leaf

Extra buttons

An empty crayon box

AND A mysterious green thing… Can you identify EXACTLY what this thing is?!!

Look Mom! A Dolphin!

During “quiet” time the other day I let Chloe play with a small chalkboard, instead of “reading” books which is what we usually do. I was sitting next to her on the couch reading and she was drawing. I was interrupted by her waiving the chalkboard in my face and hearing her say “Mom! Momma, Mom!… Mom, a dolphin!” I took a few seconds before I looked up to see what she was talking about – THIS IS WHAT I SAW: A dolphin. My two year old drew a DOLPHIN! Cute!

Weird Sleeper

Since nap time has been such a long, drawn out process lately (because Chloe insists she doesn't need naps), I decided to multi-task (like washing bottles and cleaning up toys) while initiating nap time. About ten minutes in, I noticed that it was quiet. I turned to find:
I found my sweet little girl must have fallen asleep mid-protest. Silly girl!
Don't worry, I didn't let her continue to sleep like this. What a neck ache to wake up to!

A "Dora" Christmas

Chloe LOVES LOVES LOVES Dora the Explorer… So, naturally, this year her Christmas had a Dora theme – even down to the wrapping paper on some of her gifts. For Christmas, Chloe received the following Dora gifts: pajamas, shoes, “Backpack,” backpack, DVDs, Fiesta doll, Mermaid doll, bath toys, magical towelette, jump rope and room stickers.
As an interesting Christmas / Dora side note: in addition to all the Spanish she’s learning from watching Dora – her aunt Mandi, uncle Tyson and Bonka (my Dad) shared several simple Spanish terms to expand her bilingual vocabulary. It’s very cute to hear my two year old say: “in Spanish, we say <> My plea is this: if teach my daughter anything in Spanish – PLEASE! Teach ME the English equivalent. It will save me the $$$ I’ll otherwise have to spend to invest in an English / Spanish dictionary.
I KNEW the 4+ years I spent learning French would be a waste! DOH!
